The Global Learning Coalition is a network of nonprofits, educational institutions, government organizations, and other stakeholders taking action to ensure equitable access to global learning in Pittsburgh. We seek to promote a community in which all citizens feel connected to each other and the world via educational and community-based learning exchanges and opportunities. We believe each and every Pittsburgher can experience global learning in ways that help them feel at home in the world and ready for all the opportunities the world has to offer.
The Global Learning Coalition brings together organizational representatives who work in the field of education and global learning from across different sectors. Despite differing means of engagement, whether it be through universities, study abroad programs, non-profits, libraries, or local government, each member has a shared interest in increasing equitable access to global learning opportunities in Pittsburgh.
Together, using the combined strengths and resources of each member with a unique perspective on global learning, our Coalition strives to shape an agenda on global learning and activate our network to promote both awareness of and access to global learning opportunities in the Pittsburgh region.
The full Coalition meets bi-monthly. Coalition committees, focusing on identifying opportunities and advocacy and policy, meet separately on alternating months. Contact Dana Ludgate at Dana.Ludgate@theglobalswitchboard.org to learn more.
The committee identifies equitable global learning opportunities, funding sources, and resources to promote and share them with our network, key partners, and the public. Additionally, this committee is tasked with creating more equitable global learning opportunities to fill unmet needs.
