The Emerging Global Leaders Seminar is a free, 4-day immersive program designed to help high school students understand and think critically about their world—and the various issues, connections, and perspectives within it. This summer, the seminar will focus on Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Students meet and learn from individuals doing amazing and inspiring things that impact their communities in Pittsburgh and around the world.

Students will learn about human rights, social justice, civic engagement, diversity and inclusion, and peace building and nonviolence. The seminar will culminate in a “boot camp,” where students will learn about activism and how to effectively develop and pitch an idea! Students will strengthen their understanding of overarching global issues and how these issues shape the world around them. Students will acquire greater global competence, cross-cultural understanding, and project design proficiency—key skills needed to stand out as a leader in a global workforce.

Target Audience: Rising 9th – 12th graders
